We bring confidence and strength and guide you through your pregnancy, birth and beyond
Our collective was born from a deep respect for matrescence — the becoming of a mother — and from a shared wish to care for women during the most tender passages of life: pregnancy and birth. We walk beside you with calm, evidence-based support on the path of conscious motherhood.
about us
Who are doulas?
Not so long ago a woman was rarely alone in childbirth. In every culture, experienced women — mothers, grandmothers, neighbours — gathered around the birthing woman with calm hands and steady hearts. When that village faded, the profession of doula emerged to bring it back.
A doula (from the Greek for “a woman who serves”) is a trained companion supporting you through pregnancy, birth and the postnatal season with emotional, physical and practical care. Our collective was founded in 2019, and today Willowbough brings together certified birth and postnatal doulas serving families across London.
- Continuous one-to-one support through pregnancy, labour and the early weeks
- Shorter labours and fewer interventions reported in studies of doula care
- Greater satisfaction with the birth experience, whatever path it takes
- Calmer postnatal recovery with feeding and newborn guidance at home
doula services
How a doula can help you?
Two unhurried antenatal sessions where we map your preferences, practise comfort measures and prepare you and your partner for every turn labour may take.
Breathing, visualisation and deep-relaxation tools that soften fear and tension, so your body can do its work with confidence and calm.
Continuous presence from early labour until after birth — at home, in a birth centre or in hospital — holding space while you labour your way.
Gentle home visits in the fourth trimester: rest, nourishment, newborn care and a listening ear while you find your rhythm as a family.
Patient, hands-off guidance on latch, positioning and milk supply — in your home, at your pace, without judgement.
A traditional wrapping and warming ritual that honours your passage into motherhood and gently closes the birth chapter.

our meetings
Supporting you at our monthly meets
Monthly themed gatherings with the collective. We talk about aromatherapy in labour, homeopathy, the pros and cons of caesarean birth, choosing a name for the child — and simply share tea, cake and honest conversation.

A story from one of our families
One of the first doulas a friend told me about was part of our Willowbough circle — and when I fell pregnant, I booked a taster session of pregnancy yoga with her that same week.
After the class she offered me tea, and over that cup I poured out every worry I had about giving birth. At her monthly meets I learned about the choices that help during pregnancy and labour — breathing, positions, the quiet power of being heard.
When my daughter was born, my doula held the space so my partner could simply be present. This is how a doula becomes a thread in the fabric of a family — and why we do this work.
